Once you're on a good track toward getting an adequate amount of rest, you might even consider adjusting your bedtime to enable you rise 20-30 minutes before the rest of your family to have a few minutes of peace and quiet to enter into the day on your own terms.
You could use this time to read, pray, or simply spend a few minutes attuning your attitude toward positive and optimistic thoughts about the day ahead.
Before pouring that heavenly first cup of coffee, drink a full glass of water as your body and joints are fully dehydrated after being deprived of food and drink for the last 7-9 hours.
Spend a few minutes stretching to help ease your body into a full day of strenuous activity.
Eat a healthy and balanced breakfast (and make sure to provide one to your family too) to start your body off with a dose of good fuel and energy as well.
Once you've done a few positive things for yourself, turn your attention to your home.
If we as Home Managers keep on top of a few tasks in short small doses, we are certain to save ourselves from a huge dose of time trying to catch up with later.
A few things always happen in every home; people will eat and dirty their clothing.
I can complete the following tasks in about 15-20 minutes each morning after breakfast has been served:
* Unload dishes from dishwasher and put away.
* Address the laundry situation and do at least one step - either start a load, fold, or put some away.
* Determine what will be served for the evening meal and make note of how long I'll need to prepare it so it's ready by dinner time.
As a reward for completing my home maintenance tasks, I then spend a bit of time checking email and reading a few blogs with (with that heavenly coffee, of course!) :)

Oh my, yes! On the days when I slumber on and find myself getting up WITH my kids, I am so much more stressed. I much prefer getting my day started and then welcoming them and the day to begin. But I'm still working on the "get enough sleep" bit. hmmmm ....
