Dinosaur Birthday Party

My oldest son just turned four. He had known for several months that he wanted a dinosaur party and he's just now getting old enough to appreciate a party with all the trimmings.
Here's a peek at our Prehistoric Party Plans:
Here's one of the signs leading up to a city park gazebo that we reserved.
I'm so lucky that both my boys were born in May because that means parties can be at the park, and not my house = no harried clean-up before hand OR exhausted clean up afterward. Dinosaur footprints lead the way reads: Owensaurus-REXFirst game: Dinosaur Bone Drop
I gave each child a cup and several dino bones (dog treats in the shape of bones) to see who could drop the most bones inside.

Second Game: Hatch the Dinosaur Egg
I got small dinosaur party favors and stuck them inside the balloons before blowing them up so the kids could have a relay race to 'hatch' the balloon 'eggs'.Owen and I made this volcano out of plaster and painted it thanks to a kit we found a hobby lobby. A little baking soda, vinegar and red/orange food coloring and you've got an eruption!
My first character cake. I was actually quite pleased with how it came out and found a GREAT tutorial on how to make it at howdini.com. And here's a link to the template. My son chose to have strawberry cake so it would look like the dinosaurs blood when cut into. Nice. :)
I handed over cupcake duty to a local gal and it was WELL worth it.
All of this added up to one happy birthday boy!

4 Wannabe Comments:

  1. Awww, what a sweet party! I really love your game ideas and the cake. I've got the goal of making all my daughter's birthday cakes myself and am batting one for one so far.
